David Ford - Club Academy, Manchester 26 October 2007

Hi

Last night's gig at Club Academy in Manchester University was superb.

David was augmented by a six piece band including an array of instruments from pedal steel and congas to trombone and mandolin.

The sound was stunning.

He played all of the Songs For The Road album except St Peter and also I Don't Care What You Call Me, What Would You Have Me Do, State of The Union, Cheer Up (You Miserable Fuck) and There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.

He was in fine form and the audience were attentive and the place was nearly full.

Good to hear so many people sing along to all the songs from the debut solo CD and I'm sure it won't be long before the same applies to the new one.

Highlights were numerous but personal ones were I Don't Care What You Call Me with the entire room on harmony vocals, Song For The Road was stunning, ...And So You Fell was beautiful and moving and the final solo version of Go To Hell was spellbinding.

I took my girlfriend who is now a big fan after seeing this show.

The full setlist in order was:-

I'm Alright Now

Decimate

I Don't Care What You Call Me

Requiem

What Would You Have Me Do

State of The Union

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Train Nobody Tells Me What To Do

Song For The Road

encore

...And So You Fell

Cheer Up (You Miserable Fuck)

Go To Hell

Thanks David and all the band and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Good luck for tonights Shepherd's Bush Empire gig.

Dave
